Act Allocating Funding for PMPs Passes US House
On September 23, 2010, the US House of Representatives passed the National All Schedules Prescription Electronic Reporting Reauthorization Act of 2010 (HR 5710), which would offer financial support for state PMPs. The act, currently in Senate committee review, would appropriate $15,000,000 for distribution to approved state PMPs in 2011 if it is adopted as law. The act would also require the monitoring of state efforts to achieve interoperability among PMPs. In addition, the act would require states receiving funds to implement education programs to facilitate prescriber use of PMPs.
