Board Member Manual
The NABP State Boards of Pharmacy Member Manual (PDF) is intended as a guide to support new board members as they transition into their roles, providing an overview of the various responsibilities executed by boards of pharmacy and their members. In addition, the Member Manual serves to introduce them to NABP, NABP programs and services, and how they can participate in NABP activities such as task forces or committees. The Member Manual may also be a helpful reference resource for continuing board members and executive directors as they meet new challenges.
Member Manual chapters provide overviews of board member duties and responsibilities, and board of pharmacy responsibilities including:
- granting licensure
- understanding the examination development process
- rulemaking
- issuing declaratory statements
- adjudication proceedings
- understanding the investigatory process
The Member Manual also provides general information on board meetings, including:
- guidance on sunshine laws
- a summary of parliamentary procedure
- a sample typical meeting agenda
Further, the Member Manual describes what boards can do in anticipation of sunset laws, and provides information on additional legal topics in a collection of relevant Legal Briefs articles reprinted from the NABP Newsletter.
The Member Manual is updated every January if necessary.
