According to statistics, teen addiction to prescription pain medications is reaching catastrophic proportions. Meeting participants will review the issues associated with this problem, including sources of prescription drugs, the role the Internet plays, and strategies to assist in abuse prevention.

As counterfeit drugs and devices and diversion continue to pose significant threats to the public health, the use of electronic tools is becoming increasingly common to counter this threat, as well as to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the drug distribution process. During this session, meeting participants will examine how industry and enforcement officials have incorporated such tools into their efforts.

State boards of pharmacy, other state agencies, and the federal government must work together to put these sites out of business. During this session, meeting participants will examine and discuss strategies to build a case against an Internet pharmacy using all available resources.
